Never underestimate the power of moving your body everyday.

As we age our mind, body and spirit can feel depleted, this can lead to unhealthy lifestyle choices, depression, isolation and many illnesses.

As someone who has been through the challenges of unhealthy lifestyle choices, divorce, loss, and career transitions, I understand firsthand the pain, frustration and fear when facing the hardship of starting over.

Starting a new life is difficult, we can be full of fear, regret and pain. These emotions keep us stuck, we reach for unhealthy lifestyle choices for immediate relief, which leads us to more unhappiness and regret.

My lifestyle change began with just simply walking. Walking ignited something deep down in my soul. I craved more of the good feeling. I began to eat healthy food, moved my body everyday and cleared my mind of the negative thoughts. I became clear on my wellness goals and found what I truly desired in life. When we feel better we make better choices in our life.

There are so many ways to move your body as you begin your wellness journey. Most importantly be open to trying new experiences and meeting new people. Movement and socialization will increase your health and happiness.

Here are my favorite forms of movement for good health and happiness.

Walking ~ Helps you lose weight, improve heart health, strengthen your immune system and increase your happiness.

Hiking ~ Helps build strong muscles and bones, improves sleep, reduces anxiety and depression, lowers blood pressure and helps with balance. My favorite thing about hiking is that it often doesn't feel like exercise.

Dancing ~ Helps increase your energy level, improve bone health, balance and flexibility. Also dancing is a social activity that can help decrease depression and loneliness. As we age loneliness can lead to many mental and physical illnesses.

Tai Chi ~ Helps improve memory and cognitive function. Good low impact movement to improve your health and socialize with your local community.

Yoga and Meditation ~ So many health benefits from yoga and meditation, most importantly Yoga can help you calm your mind and find peace. Yoga helps with Posture, and build strength and muscles and boost your immune system. Meditation takes time for most of us to learn, but just checking in with yourself for fifteen minutes a day as you learn to breathe for relaxation, and to be still with your thoughts. The answers come if we can be still long enough to listen.

Cycling ~ Helps build muscles, low impact , better lung health, boost your mood and can be done indoors or outdoors.

Any form of movement that you enjoy will help you build a healthy lifestyle and meet great people along the way.
